Bazm-e-Shayeq
This website serves as a platform to inculcate the love of Allah and the Prophet Mohammed PBUH through divine poetry as well as Islamic Education. We invite you to immerse your hearts with the Ishq of our beloved Rasool SAWS by reading the poetic collection of Hazrat Shayeq and others.
Who is Hazrate Shayeq?
Belonging to the prophetic lineage, hailing from a renowned family of ‘Mashaiq/Syeds’ in Hyderabad, Hazrat Shayeq is widely known as the “Aashiq e Rasool SAWS”. He held the distinguished position of the Grand Mufti of the Asifjahi Dynasty of the Deccan Sultanate, in the early 20th century. The grand position he held signifies his deep scholarly knowledge and expertise in matters of Islamic jurisprudence, bearing the responsibility of issuing authoritative legal Fatwas, which were implemented throughout the Deccan province. He held great significance within the religious and intellectual spheres of the entire Deccan region.
A Great Poet of the Naat-e- Rasool PBUH:
Hazrat Shayeq achieved a unique and remarkable recognition for his poetry which is filled with profound and extreme love for the Prophet Mohammed PBUH, a devotion that has earned him not only the title of “Aashiq e Rasool SAWS” ( the ardent aashiq of the Prophet) but was also known as “ the Hassan e Deccan” (in memory of the first poet Sahabi(Companion), Hazrat Hassan bin Thabit, RA). His poetry was the first of its kind in encapsulating the intensity of his affection, transcending mere admiration to reach a deep connection with the Prophet (PBUH). His unwavering love for the Prophet Mohammed PBUH is palpable in every line of his poetry. His poetry rekindled the hearts of the Muslim community in the Deccan Sultanate, its nearby districts, across India and Pakistan with the love of the Prophet and it has the same effect on its readers even today. At a young age of 33, the poetic prodigy met an untimely end. After performing Haj, during his journey to Madina, his profound excitement and overwhelming emotions stemming from the realization of reaching the revered city, home to the Prophet’s shrine proved to be too much for his mortal frame, leading to a sudden illness that later turned out to be fatal. The circumstances of his heavenly abode stand as a testament to the intensity of his love of the Rasool PBUH, as the sheer joy and awe of being in the proximity of Madina became the prime cause of his departure from this world.
He has left behind a legacy of spiritual insight, poetic brilliance, and a profound love for Allah and His Messenger.
Reciting his poetry inculcates and rekindles the hearts of anyone who cherishes even a small bit of love and reverence for the Prophet. Through his rhythm and rhyme, his poetic verses weave soul-stirring connection of the reader with the Prophet Mohammed PBUH.
At the end, an earnest Dua from the depth of our heart is for the visitors of the website that
”May Allah SWT make the poetic legacy of Hazrat Shayeq an inspiration for us all and kindle the flame of love of Allah SWT and His Prophet PBUH in our hearts and the Islamic lessons help us build our knowledge base in Islamic learning and thereby improve our Aamaal and Ahwaal. Aameen.
